Many fire officers think our business is unlike any other business in the world and discredit successful leaders simply because they do not wear the badge. Looking at others that have successfully battled their way to becoming the best at what they do can serve as an inspiration for all of us. I will never be a Billionaire doing this job but there is no reason I can’t enjoy the same success in my career and life that Steve Jobs did. When I found this video posting, I could close my eyes and envision this same speech from any number of fire service leaders. When it comes to finding examples of positive leaders, don’t limit yourselves to just people in our line of work. Whether they wear a badge or not, all leaders have common traits and serve as examples.
