It is not a secret that our career field is in a transitional phase.  Experienced officers are being replaced by educated officers.  The educational aspect is important but with the transition, many departments are losing their ability to provide proper leadership.  Some principles can be taught however many of the traits of a fire officer must be learned through methods besides a book.  Just like most people are a product of how they are raised, the same is true for fire officers.  We develop and learn what to do (or not to do) by the leaders we are exposed to.  This blog and forum are an attempt to provide access to proven leaders as a resource to those that need or want guidance in issues revolving around the career.  Whether an experienced officer, new officer or perspective officer, there is something for everyone provided in this site.  Welcome to Fire Officer Mentor, let the sharing begin!
